Really enjoyed last year so will be doing the same again, with a few tweaks ;)
If this date clashes with any big event it can be changed, but really needs to be a Sunday so I can use the tea room.
as before there's no cost involved, just turn up & enjoy the drops, donations of cake welcomed.
Hope to be able to do home made soup for lunch but if the groups that do teas on Sundays in the village hall want the urn I'll probably have to drop that idea but I'll know nearer the time.
numbers limited, if anyone is interested please reply or drop me a pm.

Snowdrops & Cake, now with added Soup! Sun 19th Feb 2012 Benington Lordship
Crikey, if that's not a prospect to draw forumists to a fun event, I really don't know what is?
Richard, if I were within striking distance I would be more than delighted to attend.... I'd even bring soup.
I know just what a marvellous time everyone had last year so I expect there will be as happy a bunch in February.... I'm more than a little disappointed not to be able to join you!
-
Maggi that's a long way to bring soup ;)
seems the 19th clashes with a few events (thanks Brian) so perhaps 26th will be better, am a little concerned with everything being so advanced already & I'm likely to be away weekend after & with other events on the previous w/e it'll have to be that one.
-
I can vouch for last time being a fantastic small gathering - see photos here :)

Sadly I shall be missing your 2012 gathering Richard as I fly out of the UK on Saturday 18th for a couple of weeks.
I have my fingers crossed that you might arrange a 2013 gathering as I would love to attend (and have a few more snowdrops to get rid of ;) ).
I highly recommend a wander with Richard through the Bennington Lordship gardens and moat.

thank you John, and yes I hope It'll be an annual thing, as long as it is kept small am sure the owners will be happy for me do keep doing it so there will be a 2013 gathering :)

Hi Richard
I really enjoyed last year too and would love to come along again. I am happy to drive past Stevenage station (or even Lution airport) if it helps anybody? Will bring a cake and some drops to swop or donate.
Please can you organise some sunshine too? :D

Hi Chris,
right now all I want is rain ;) I'll keep everything crossed for a nice day.
-
Yes I was planting out some nerines at the weekend and the soil was bone dry. The beginning of December and we are still praying for rain, what on odd year. ::)
-

Orders now being taken and can be rapidly fulfilled!! ;D

Orders now being taken and can be rapidly fulfilled!! Grin
I'll just take a few days off, that always works ::)
lakes are still very low, at least 2ft lower than I would expect for this time of year, still not got much digging done, is just too dry!

Pooring here in Northamptonshire at the moment
Richard,we would both love to do this event again, but as we did it last year ,we are prepared to go at the bottom of the list to give others a chance to enjoy it
-
Now, whisper this, and keep it among yourselves, because it would just be TOO embarrassing if word got out....... when I was telling Ian about the Snowdrops Cake and Soup get-together.... he actually looked at his diary to see if he was due to be in England at that time!! :o :o
I'm thinking it's the lure of soup, cake and Forum chums.......... ::) ??? :-\

No, too much earlier and too much later, I think to be practical.

Chas please don't worry about that, I have negotiated a few more so shouldn't be a problem.
Maggi, there's an open invitation here, if you ever happen to be in the area please get in touch, ignore the opening times, they don't apply ;)
-
Hi Richard,
I was thinking the same as Chas really, would love to come again this year but as we attended last year we're quite prepared to let some of the other members have a chance so put us at the back of the queue please :)
Ali

Hi Ali,
will do but as I said I don't see it being a problem.
-
weather looking good for sunday :)
I'll pm everyone who replied later, still room for a few more if anyone else would like to visit.
-
Richard
I would love to have returned this year, but duty calls - a Committee meeting at Wisley :(
Hope the weather is good and the drops upstanding.
-
I hope it will be an annual event, hope to see you again next year :)
-
sorry soup is off, someone forgot to put water in the bottom of one of the urns and burnt it out so the parish hall will want the other one & I've got no means of keeping it warm, will just have to eat more cake, shame....
-
Weather is pretty good though, isn't it, Richard ? So the lack of soup shouldn't be too much of a trauma ::)
Have a wonderful day!
-
yes was lovely today but colder tonight so things will be a little slower to open in the morning.
-
Just been out with the dogs and it is much colder this evening than I thought - perhaps the snowdroppers for Benington Lordship should put on extra socks!
-
was a bit colder last night which had me worried but a lovely morning here, no wind & blue skies ;D
-
Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did Richard ;D
-
Got back about an hour ago, what a superb day, THANKS Richard.
Lovely people, wonderfull snowdrops and the weather to show them off to perfection. Oh and the cakes - lets put it this way "we didn't go home hungry"!
I will post some photos when I get a few more minutes.
Thanks also to Alan and Chas (and Richard again) for the donations/swaps. I went home with three that were on my wishlist and only added about the same number to the list!

Well what a superb day for it,although a little late(1hour) through road closures and diversions we had a most enjoyable time once again, perfect weather for viewing the drops, and a wonderfull array of cakes, especially Chris's (always a favourite of Jan's),and thanks to Richard for his hospitality, and replacing a drop that I lost last winter
And good to meet some other forum members
-
glad you enjoyed it and thanks to all that came & the snowdrop/cake donations, was a really nice morning & couldn't have asked for better weather ;D

What a lovely day for it, the drops looked splendid in the warm sunshine.
Thanks Richard for being such a good and generous host. It's so enjoyable to meet up with like minded people so thank you all for being there and for bringing cake (I had so much cake that I didn't need dinner when I got home) :)
