Title: The Wental near Heidenheim
Post by: ruweiss on September 04, 2011, 09:09:45 PM
Last week we visited the Felsenmeer (Sea of Rocks) in the Wental. This Valley is a dry valley on a Carst plateau,
elevation about 630m. The Felsenmeer is a rock formation and a protected area (Naturschutzgebiet) and many
visitors enjoy this beautiful landscape. At the time of our visit there were no special floral highlights, but Carlina
acaulis was really beautiful.

Very nice pictures, Rudi, of a lovely landscape, nice flowers, and interesting rock formations.  Where in Germany is the Wental?

Knud, thanks for you friendly comment.
The Wental is in Southern Germany, about 70 km east of Stuttgart and between
Schwäbisch Gmünd and Heidenheim.

Thank you, Rudi, I will mark it on the map. My brother has travelled quite a bit in Germany, I will ask if he has been there.
