Title: Veratrum

I bought this one as Veratrum maackii
start August flowering
1,75 meter high
but not sure if it is Veratrum maackii var. parviflorum

The plant I bought - years ago - as V. maackii was low, about 60cms and brown coloured all over, including the flower stems and flowers. As veratrums go, it was far from spectacular. In general, more like what you have to the lower right of your picture Hans, although I can't see that fully. It had very narrow foliage.

 If it does not key there then it has to be a European species. It looks like it could be V. grandiflorum, but without close up details of the perianth and stem (and leaf shape) I cannot say for certain.

 Narrow leaves would suggest V. formosanum Lesley and the low height, which has been typical for many of my plants of that species, suggest that also.

Thanks Aaron, I may still have it somewhere though could take time to find it. Underground now anyway. I remember thinking that if it dies I wouldn't be too sad.
