I think these Podophyllum varieties are mostly available in the USA and Canada... does anyone know of a UK/ European source?
Podophyllum 'Black Jack'
Podophyllum hexandrum 'Kaleidoscope'
Podophyllum 'Spotty Dotty'
-
Maggi, did you check RHS Plantfinder? Spotty Dotty is listed at Edrom and Quercus Garden Plants, Springfield, Fife.
-
No, David, haven't got up to date Plantfinder ! I suppose I could use the online version - silly me! Thanks for your help though! Can't say I've ever heard of Quercus Garden plants... will ask around, or, better still, wait for a Fifer on the Forum to pipe up and tell me all about the place!

I should have guessed that Cath and Terry at Edrom http://www.edromnurseries.co.uk/home.asp would have this sort of thing!
A wee search for Quercus found this..
Quercus Garden Plants Ltd
Rankeilour Gardens/Rankeilour Estate
Cupar KY15 5RE Telephone: 01337 810444 which is handy, for Cupar is the home of our dear friend and SRGC Honorary President Bette Ivey.... I'm sure Bette could be persuaded to make a wee visit on my belhalf, she is an experienced plant shopper, among her other accomplishments. I will email her forthwith!

Maggi,
I managed to buy both Podophyllum 'Spotty Dotty' and delavayi from Bob Brown's Cotswolds Garden Flowers nursery this June. Very difficiult to get hold of here on the continent so I was very pleased to see and be able to buy them.

André, thanks for this info. If Bette fails her mission in Fife, I will contact have another chance.

I've never heard of P. 'Black Jack'. Does anyone have a photo or know more information about it?
Thanks,
R

Well, dear friend Bette, DID get me P. 'Spotty Dotty', I'm pleased to say. Still searching for the others...
Riz, I cannot now remember where I saw these cultivars... somewhere on the internet that sparked my interest...I'll let you know if I recall :)

I've never heard of Podophyllum 'Black Jack' but suspect you might be referring to an Arisaema triphyllum selection of the same name released by Tony Avent (Plant Delights) last year? It is a wonderful plant, with almost black leaves in the right conditions, otherwise greeen with many black veins. It seems to be doing well here.
Best,
John

Probably right in the 'Black Jack'. Terra Nova (Dan Heims) has three cultivars of Podophyllum available...just google for more information.

Maggi I have the last four or five years of Plant Finder at home. Would you like last years? Did you get Garden Heaven?
-
Mark, yes, thank you, I should have said so before... I did get the copy of 'Garden Heaven'... it was really kind of you to send it to me. I am impressed with the quality of pix and layout, altogether a very nice read.... just wish The Northern Garden had kept going!!
Thanks for kind offer of Plant Finder...but nowadays I can just search it online in the RHS site, if I could remember to do that! I do sometimes ! ::)
