Dunskey Gardens and Maze 

Location: Portpatrick, by Stranraer, Scotland

Opening times: Easter-Oct (1000-1700hrs daily)

Admission: £4.30 OAPs £4, Children £2, Season tickets available.

Facilities: Tea room (with murals) and small plants-sales area.

Gardens: 18th century walled garden; original Mackenzie and Moncur glasshouses (needing repair); national collection of clianthus and sutherlandia; woodland with rhododendrons; large maze; fishing and children's area. Garden tour with head gardener every Wednesday at 1130hrs

Henderson Rating: Garden design interest 2.8/5.

The maze is very good; the walled garden needs some re-invigorating; the glasshouses require investment (incidentally Mackenzie and Moncur built the Palm House at RBGE); the woodlands need more planting though there are some interestign rhodos.

There is great unrealised potential here. If you are in the area and stuck for something to do then it is perhaps worth a visitation.
