Post by: Neil on July 10, 2011, 06:48:56 PM
Just a quick question, for my raised bed what depth of gravel would I need and would this be http://www.stonewarehouse.co.uk/chippings-gravel/cotswold-4-10mm or would I need smaller something like this be better http://www.stonewarehouse.co.uk/chippings-gravel/dashing-blends/barley-corn-3-8mm.

Neil, it depends on what you want to grow but at least 5cms  deep for a top dressing and we use 7mm so the 3-8 would be our choice.

Maggi, small plants mostly less than 300mm in height spread.

My own preference would be for the first of the two pictured although I'd prefer any chipping to be less cream/yellow and a little closer to greyish or earthy colours. The second one is like what I put on my seed pots, though mine is perhaps smaller.
