Erodium sp.
I sent you and Maggi that Erodium. It's E. 'Lagano Real' that I have never seen for sale since I bought it.
-
Thanks, Mark. We have a copule of "stray" Erodiums.... some from you and some from Sandy Leven and we can never remember which is which. Will make note of that now.
I was just about to praise the tiny, bronze foliaged one that is also from you... but forget the name... again! Is it 'Tanya Randall'?
-
yes that's it. I saw it out of focus in one of the photos.
Mine is now too big but thankfully doesnt swamp anything of importance

Wondering about "Lagano Real".... might it be Lugano Real.... since the Swiss place name is Lugano and there may be a connection?
Not that I can find the name online in any variation other than various mentions in the Forum - including your photos here :

We need a copy of Erodium Register of Cultivar Names: The Register of Erodium Cultivar Names by David Victor in 2000, huh?

Dare I say in a whisper I recently pulled a plant apart and might have a rooted bit available in the future
-
:o that is a small whisper

It's of Spanish origin, not Swiss. It's "real" name is Erodium castellanum 'Logroños Real' but often appears as E castellanum 'Logrono Real'
-
wow how did you find the info?

Ah well, that would make sense.... thanks Diane!

Years of practise of interpreting Seed donor forms with misspelt plant names or plant labels that have been handwritten then transcribed, a sort of plant name Chinese whispers ;D
plus a little creative use of search engines. It's on the RHS database (which is and excellent reference of cultivar names, deriving from a combination of several years of The Plant finder)
Erodium castellanum 'Logroños Real' (http://apps.rhs.org.uk/horticulturaldatabase/hortdatabase.asp?id=179357&crit=erodium&genus=Erodium)

Thanks Mark and Diane for filling in the names of this lovely plant.
It just goes to reinforce what I said in the bulb log about this wonderful forum community we have here.
And that's just for plants... it is obvious from other threads that the camaraderie and sincere friendship run deep. Long live the Forum.
