Could somebody i.d this Eryngium for me please.

It could be Eryngium giganteum, Davey  :)

what i forgot to say is this is only about 10 inches tall at the most does that sound right for giganteum.I think you two have nailed it for me .Thank you.

Eryngium giganteum Silver Ghost makes about 60cms, I think.... but it looks likethe ones in your photos, Davey, have a bit of growing to do yet.. the buds are only developing so it'll get a bit taller, don't you think?

Some things here are not as tall as normal due to the prolonged exceptionally dry weather.  It does look like E giganteum as I grow it.
