Title: Anemone id
Post by: Magnar on June 04, 2011, 09:48:40 PM
I have this Anemone in my garden. It has the shape and size of Anemone narcissiflora, but while my A. narcissiflora has pinkish buds, this one has bluish buds which also are bigger than those of A. narscissiflora. Any suggestions for an ID please?

Can't help with an ID Magnar, but welcome back from your winter hibernation. ;D

Hi

Did you think about A.polyanthes from the Himalaya?
Looks like an A.narcissiflora in overall appearance, but somewhat hairier.
Flower colour is said to vary from white to mauve, which may also perhaps affect the buds colour.
But I can't be sure. I grow some of them, but they are for the moment so young, seedling from two years ago ( and they must be certified true then when/if flowering in a few years).

I already have an A. polyantehs, but with pinkish buds. Now when I compare it with the one with blusch buds, the two plants took very much the same. So when you say this speceis can vary in colour, I guess I at least can call my plant A. aff ployanthes.  :)
Thanks, Philippe.
