Received under sp, and collected in Yunnan ( with no further indication)
I simply love it. Such a beautiful foliage.
The flowers are rather really disappointing in regard to this amazing foliage, here in the garden just one stem standing upright, looking excessfully rigid, and...yes...ugly. ( no pics, they are stored on a extern disk, which is just not going anymore at this time :-\ )
Any idea of what this ligularia could be? I thought of lankongensis or affiliate, but with no certainty.

Is this the flowers. I have it and am disappointed every year but don't have the heart to bin it because of the leaves. We have had an attempt a few year ago on the forum trying to identify it without any results, so would love to know if anyone has an idea now.

The flowers do look as if they've had a hard night out and in a storm as well. ;D If you cut off the flower stems you will likely get extra foliage to compensate.

The flowering-look was a little other, as I remember. Well this might also be variable. But perhaps even uglier than yours Susan ::)
I hope I can get my disk again, then I'll post it soon ( I took a pic only for eventual identification one day, not for the beauty of the thing)
If not, I'll have to wait august to have the huge pleasure to look at it again....
But you're right, the foliage is pretty, pretty, pretty. In my eyes perhaps one of the top5 foliage in the garden here.
( I even tried to sow it last year only for that, but with no results so far).
Good idea Lesley, I think I will try with 5 of the 6 plants I have ;D

I found the pic of mine in flowers.
Beware, very ugly indeed...

Yes Phillippe yours does look uglier an mine. As Anne Chambers once said to me about an ugly Ariseama -'Only a mother could love it'
