Title: To the daffodils in the Holzwarchetal

Last sunday I had a walk to the daffodils in the Holzwarchetal  - it is situated near the the German border in the German speaking part of Belgium. The tour was leaded by an expert from the Wuppertal Botanical Garden. Fortunately we didn't choose the official route because it was somewhat overcrowded on occasion of the annual daffodil festival.

- the hybrid was found near the beginning of the walk in the vicinity of a homestead

Nice memories come into my mind... :)

It seems there are more daffodils growing on the Belgium side compared to near 'Perlenbach' valley in Germany.

It would have been a pleasure to join the walk. Wonderful flowers inthe company of friends, what  could be nicer?

Thanks for compliments!

Armin: maybe there are some more in Belgium but both places have
their own fascination. The sites in the ' Perlenbachtal ' could be admired a little bit more quiet.

Thank you Gerd, I can't imagine here such a reserve just because there are a good population of narcissi. In my village there is a similar place but with 5 species and 4 hybrids (all together blooming) without any flora protection... they tried to make a golf camp here, they enter 3000 cows, when it only can tolerate 1000 maximum... etc..

Thank you Rafa - one reason for the protection is tourismn. The Eifel (and maybe the Belgian part across the border) is a very poor region and visitors bring money!
Unfortunately visitors to Spain aren't interested in nature (and daffodils) in the first place. Maybe this will change sometimes.

By the way:
We have only two wild growing daffodil species in our country ( Nn. pseudonarcissus and poeticus)
