Title: help for ID
Post by: orpheos on April 13, 2011, 05:22:22 PM
hi to everyone
i've bought this plant as a "nerine spec. N of Kingwilliamstown" last summer without flowers.. now it's starting to bloom but... it isn't a nerine! i think it's an ornithogalum or something like that.. could anyone help me to identify it?
the flowers as you can see in the third photo are very small

I'm not at all expert on Ornithogalum, so I can't really help you.  It does not look like a Nerine umbel to me; but in any case, much closer pictures would help.  The interior of the flower is what we need to see.

As with South African bulbs, there are more species around than those described in books. Not necessarily one can obtain an ID: very large genus.
