Title: Dicentra for identification

A few years ago I bought Dicentra King of Hearts and planted it in an almost full shade trough. It gets sun up to 11am. King of Hearts died last year. A couple of weeks ago I noticed leaves coming up and today I noticed there were flowers.

Is this Dicentra cuccularia? I dont know where it came from.

I never saw any red on D. cuccularia before.

The red is a new one on me but with those "ears" it must be a D. cuccularia cucullaria form.  Pretty thing.

In some areas of the Mississippi River floodplain Dicentra cucullaria can have orange-pink noses and the rest of the flower with strong pink coloration. So, yes that must be D. cucullaria. See John Lonsdale's website for some we found years ago. The plants come out a fairly good pink in cool weather.

Did you buy a Dicentra cucullaria 'Pink Punk' from somewhere Mark?

"petals white, frequently suffused pink, apex yellow to orange-yellow"

Yes Mark, that's cucullaria (sic)....Note the spelling 1"c", 2 "ls"

I grow one named D cucullaria 'Pittsburgh', came from Kath Dryden years ago...is pink..(to some folks eyes)..is certainly different from the norm...and I know she also had other clones that were deeper in colour that a few folk got hold of so your one is a nice thing.
