Didsn't find where to show this beauty - Sternbergia candida - one of two spring blooming species growable here even outside, but this one from greenhouse.

Janis, how does one grow Sternbergia in a greenhouse?  I've killed several species in my greenhouse, and a type or two outdoors.  Which is very frustrating, since Sternbergia lutea does quite well outdoors in the ground here in central Indiana, USDA cold zone 5.

I have had similar troubles with some of the miniature Narcissus species.  Most do not thrive in my greenhouse, and only N. calcicola does really well outdoors in the rock garden.  Too much summer heat and summer humidity, too much winter cold outdoors and not enough inside the greenhouse?

Sternbergias I'm growing in greenhouse, but not in pots - in ground on raised beds. Soil substrate is the same as in pots only as mulch there is used peat moss. I grew candida, colchiciflora for many years outside with various success - some year almost lost them, but never completely and allways stocks again slowly recovered. When I built greenhouses I replaced them there and they feel very well + I add to my collection sicula, lutea, greuteriana, clusiana which are not growable outside here. The success depends from stock. Even so usual species as sicula and lutea - some stocks grow well and some disappear (lutea from Italy almost never blooms).

To make topic really "miscellaneous" here two other pictures
Gymnospermium peloponnesiacum - the smallest of Gymnospermiums in my collection -  and
Ficaria verna Little Southey  (I use name Ficaria, as it was used in my student years. Now must be used name Ranunculus)
