News to me that any Schefflera ARE hardy. Thought they would all be tender in the UK

I'm sure bob brown http://www.cgf.net/plants.php?genus=SCHEFFLERA might be able to help

Also try Crûg Farm in Wales.  They had plenty of UK hardy Schefflera species at the RHS Show a couple of years ago.   www.crug-farm.co.uk (http://www.crug-farm.co.uk)

BTW Philip McD. is growing Schefflera spp. in Vancouver, BC.  He insists we should plant out the one he gave us... ::)

Whenever I've look at their website, Crûg Farm usually haven't have any Schefflera taiwaniana plants for sale (in my view, the best hardy species). I covet this plant hugely - it's very elegant and I think borderline hardy but there's a large one in the Exotic Garden at Great Dixter so it must be pretty tough. I've looked at Crûg Farm again while reading this thread and they're in stock - 2 sorts, anyway -  so I've ordered one. Now, where to put it ...
