Title: Any Budding Designers?
Post by: mark smyth on April 01, 2011, 06:29:20 PM
This year I'll be making a new bed in the back garden - the third ::) It will be a quadrant with 3m sides and a curved front edge that will follow the curve of the paving. This curve will be approx 5m.

If it was yours would you make one large bed or make two or three smaller beds? It will be a long stretch to the centre

I'd do neither Mark. I'd either put in a few stepping stones surrounded by lower growing plants, or put one or two short paths in from the existing paving to the centre of the bed, not all the way through it. then you would get either a U or W shaped bed - optimising your access whilst not sacrificing too much planting space.

Good idea Darren but with my size 10s / 44 the wee paths will have to have turning room. I'll go with your idea
