If I might hop on this thread.....
SRGC luminary and Forumist, Jean Wyllie was delighted be awarded at a recent ceremony at the RBGE, a Certificate of Merit by the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society for her work over many years with the SRGC Seed exchange.
Jean was surprised and very honoured to be given the award and it shows that the Caley appreciates thework of folks like Jean who give so freely of their time to clubs and societies like ours to spread the plants and help the members.
I believe a photo of the presentation does exist, though I have yet to successfully drag it from Jean!
Luckily, the Caley has this on their website.....

A well deserved recognition for our own "Wyllie Wifie" 8)
A certificate of Merit was also awarded to Aberdeen SRGC member Dr Tom Smith - I see his citation includes mention of his cloud -pruned conifers, which Ian and I were delighted to encourage Tom to try and to help him to establish.

Well done Jean.
Popped into the show this morning - alas without camera.
In the Hope Gateway there were children's classes. These were very well supported (there must have been over 100 exhibits).
Some great daffs from Ringhaddy and Ron Scamp. Many more miniatures than last year.
Caley President, George Anderson and his wife seemed to have won a huge number of the cut flower classes. In the alpine, cacti, succulent and indoor plant classes Stan da Prato figured prominently. Great little show.
And some great home baking made its way home...

The many New Zealand members who had seed during Jean's time with the seed list will be happy to add their own congratulations to my own. Many fine plants are here through her work.
