This seedling was supposed to be a clematis of some sort.
Doesn't appear to be but can't figure out what it could be.
Not my seedling btw.
Any help would be appreciated. :)

could it be a cornus?
-
Maybe when there are some better developed true leaves? BTW, I have a (first) seedling come through yesterday of your C. addisonii!!!!!
-
Lesley, that's good news re the addisonii seedling, seems to have taken a very long time though.
Btw, did your pink scottii get any seeds this year?
-
David, I have passed your suggestion on, thanks for replying.

To me it looks more like a Clematis seedling than a Cornus. Some of my Clematis-seedlings are very similar.

Trond, can you remember which type of your clematis seedlings look somewhat like this seedling?

Sorry, I can't and I don't know either!
I have got some seed from Chris Chadwell named "Clematis sp" from China and the seedlings have all looked similar to that you pictured. The seedlings are 2 years now and hasn't sprouted yet this year. (Hope they have survived the cold winter)
Anyway it is easier to see when the next pair of leaves unfurl.
Helen, I forgot to say they are strong-growing climbing types ;)

Thanks, Trond.
I will post more pics later as the seedling puts out new leaves.
-
Clematis fargesii perhaps ?
-
Susan, after seeing today's pic it looks as though the seedling is virginia creeper or boston ivy.
