Title: Gentiana - unknown cultivar

My friend brought this plant back from exposition in Berlin. The story is, that two guys were quarrelling over the name of the plant when he was buying it, and one hour later, when he came back, they still were quarrelling:) It is probably some septemfida hybrid and cultivar name might be 'Krone' or 'Kranz'. The fringe of white hairs inside the corolla is characteristic and enhances the beauty of the plant. Perhaps some one here might identify this gentiana?

Barbara, I think this is a Gentiana septemfida var. lagodechiana and I have heard of a variety...  'Kranz' but I do not grow it so cannot confirm.
 It is a most attractive plant, you show, the colour and fringing are delightful. I assume by the name @Kranz' that this will be a German cultivar, so  if it has come from Berlin that seems right!! ;D

A very nice gentiana. Maggi, you realize you're about to enter your third millenium? I've no time for baking at present - coping with dead car, and yesterday, flooding. Nothing like so bad as in the UK or NZ's far north but water pouring down the INSIDE of my sitting room windows and dripping through the plaster ceiling. Quite a lot of damage and masses of mess. We had 4 inches (105mm) of very heavy downpour in about 15 hours up to 8pm last night.

I hadn't realised that, Lesley, though I haven't been feeling as youthful as usual lately!! :P
Sorry to hear that you, too, are having flood problems.... so many people suffering such a frightful mess and disruption, I sympathise with you all.
 The changeable weather seems to be having some effect on flowering here.... summer Gentians are not budding up so well but the rhodos that are good at giving extra summer flowers are having a great time.... swings and roundabouts, I suppose.

Thanks, Andrew.... it is  our wedding anniversary on Thursday...... thirty-five years and never a dull moment... perhaps there'll be a cake for that?
