Great Scadoxus, but your signature made an even greater impact, it had me in stitches. ;D ;D ;D

How far are you from glen Waverley? that's where my brother lives. :) :) :)

That's great George and your complete set are even better. To document the whole sequence like that adds huge interest to the process, I think, and teaches a lot , too.

only about half a hour Maren...

Thanks for your comments.
Thanks Maggi. I did the same with my Scadoxus multiflorus ssp. katherinae, but it hasn't opened yet.

Hi George
Your Scadoxus looks a bit like one that Olive Howard a member of our group brought to the Ferny Creek Horticultural Soaciety's Rock Garden Group's meeting on Saturday, I wonder if they are the same.
cheers

George,

Very nice!  I've yet to flower mine, but hopefully one day.  ;D

Out of interest, what is the climate zone 3-4 in your signature?  For most of this list that would put you somewhere in Canada or northern Europe/Russia I think, much colder than anywhere in Australia, even the top of the mountains as far as I know.... somewhere in the vicinity of -30 to -40oC average winter temp?  I'm guessing that there is an Aussie version of the climate zones that scales within our Aussie climate?

Hi Fermi, I have not been to the Ferny Creek Horticultural Society's Rock Garden Group meeting yet and don't know Olive Howard yet, But this plant is mine.

Paul, I got my climate zone info from

http://www.anbg.gov.au/gardens/research/hort.research/zones.html

but I may have misinterpreted.

George :o
I hope you don't think that I was implying that you'd stolen Olive's Scadoxus :o
 ;D ;D ;D
I can see from that climate zone map that Aus-zone 3-4 equals USA-zone 9-10 which sounds about right to me. It's just a bit confusing that there's such a disparity in the rating.
I'll PM you some info on FCHS unless you've already been in touch with someone else.
cheers

Thanks Fermi, I would love to come along to a meeting one Day.
No, I didn't think for one minute that you were implying that. I may have been a bit short with my answer. Sorry about that.
Do many people grow bulbs from the Ferny Creek Horticultural Society's Rock Garden Group?

George,

Yes!!  I've been down to visit twice and there some beautiful bulbs in flower at their spring show, so someone at least is growing them.  ;D  Then of course there is Otto, who we know and love here on the forums.  He has treasures to die for.  ;D ;D  And Tim, Fermi, Viv.... the list goes on.  So I think that consitutes "many" doesn't it Fermi? :P
