I was asked if I know this plant, but I need some help here.
The colors are not as they should be maybe, because the little twig was dried out a bit.

Looks like Garrya http://www.wildchicken.com/nature/garden/nature_200_068.htm (http://www.wildchicken.com/nature/garden/nature_200_068.htm)

Totally agree with Mark. Garrya elliptica, most probably.
-
Garrya elliptica, I think .
-
Certainly looks like Garrya elliptica - I have one in the garden, a valuable broadleaved evergreen and those tassels extend very nicely in spring.

That was VERY quick. Just found out that only less than 5 mins. were necessary 8)
Garrya is not often seen here because ?to cold and in my area not much of acidic soils.
Thanks very much for your help! :D

I have tried it twice. Both times it died the second winter :'( Have to try again!

On a north-faced wall. Or a not so sunny and wind exposed place you can test it. A plant had survived -20 degree Celsius in Duisburg/Germany in Winter 2008/2009.

OK, Onion, when I get plants I'll try on N-facing or NW-facing walls. However, it's not low temps but the changing weather with cycles of freezing and raining they don't like! (I don't like it either)

Hoy,
you must take mulch on the place where you plant the Garrya. By the plant in Duisburg all the old foliage lie on the ground. So the old leaves isolate the roots and the can absorb water earlier, then without leaves. This is very important for evergreen shrubs and trees.

Onion,
I'll do my best!
