Title: Sad news from N Ireland
Post by: mark smyth on December 26, 2010, 06:50:20 PM
Sad news reaches me just now that Jim Price died today. That's all I know for now.

Many times I brought Jim to meetings and discussion weekends. He had a brilliant plant collection with many winning at shows.

Sad news indeed, Mark.... Jim was a welcome visitor at many Discussion Weekends and had been an SRGC member for many years.

Dear all, I have been asked to let you know that our great friend Jim Price from Northern Ireland passed away on 26th Dec, he was only in hospital overnight and very active until recently, always thinking about his plants. Jim and Ann and I were friends for over 30 years he always had some special words to encourage the growing of plants and just loved getting a cutting of something special. Jim was very active within the Ulster group and won many red tickets, his garden was a real treasure which I enjoyed looking round when I stayed with him on visits to the show. We will miss him a very dear friend and fellow plantsman,    cheers Ian the Christie kind.

One of the things I will miss is our shared sense of humour and the ability to have fits of laughter at the slightest thing. One time about 12 of us went to a posh restuarant. Someone said something that wasnt funny but a double meaning took us both in to histerics.

It is always sad to see a fellow gradening lover go away. A friend of mine, Bette, is also elderly at 85 and is now in a nursing home. She loves gardening so I try to brighten her room with brightly colored flowers and garden inspired cards regularly.

I hope that another wonderful gardener will be caring for Jim's garden?
