Here are couple of orchids photographed in Austria. The first is an Epipactis photographed in the Karawanken. It was photographed in the Obir range, on the Hochobir, on the road to the Eisenkappler Hütte in early July 2006. If anyone could tell me which species it is that would be much appreciated.
Next are Epipactis atrorubens, Cephalanthera rubra and Gymnadenia odoratissima (with a much shorter spur than G. conopsea), all photographed at the same location.
And finally photographed in a meadow higher up on the same mountain is the endemic Nigritella lithopolitanica.

Thanks Gerhard. Must be nice to live near Hochobir and other great mountains! :)
More orchids (and other plants) photographed during this trip can be found at http://keesjan.smugmug.com/Botanical-trips/Europe/Austria-July-2006/
The pics are indexed, so it's possible to select Orchidaceae using the search tool

Wow, I really had to go very far to find info about orchids growing about 40km from the place I live! :P
And about Gerhard living 15 minutes from my place.... ;D
