I'd suggest something in the range 0.1-1% (1-10 g/L) Hans, maybe less if you plan to water seedlings though.

I never had problems with it.  I just added enough crystals to colour the water.

Now I use hydrogen peroxide.  It is already mixed, and can be bought everywhere.
It is good for using on people as well, and doesn't  turn them purple.  I just use
it occasionally, though, for oncocyclus iris seeds and a few others.

I sometimes use it at the rate of 1/2 a tsp (sorry, not a percentage) in a 10 litre can of water, watered on to bring worms and others to the top of my troughs, so they can be removed.

Hans,
That's pretty much like a percentage - take a teaspoon - fill it fifty-fifty with the crystals. Then weigh them and you are able to figure out the %!
Not really scientific - but it works!    ;)

Thank you all for your informations !

Gerd :....but Lesley use it for bring out worms .....

Diane : I use also H2O2 for desinfection of seeds  ....but KMnO4 seems to have more possiblities :
desinfection for seeds , push up the germinate rate ...and a good growing of roots.
I think H2O2 is only for desinfection

I hope Janis will also maybe answer to this topic -he wrote he use KMnO4 also for sowing....

Most granular solids have a density around 2. Hence, Lesley's half teaspoon is abt 5 grams. Her 10 litres is 10 kg. Hence the concentration she gets is about 0.05% by weight.

Approximate, yes, but close enough for government work (as they say).
