Hi,
Could this be Primula minima? Found in Öztal, Austria (Tirol) at 2527m. Note the dark purple "skin" at the base of the flower. I didn't see this in another photo of Primula minima I found on the web, thus the confusion.
Thanks,
Rob.

Welcome to the Forum, Rob. Good to have you with us!
I do not think this primula is P. minima.... because of the purple bracts and the fact that there are several flowers on each stem I think it is a small form of Primula glutinosa. P. glutinosa will hybridise readily with P. minima, so it may be a hybrid of those two.

Welcome to the Forum, Rob. Maggi, you are right it is a small plant of Primula glutinosa.

Thank you, Franz, I thought this was the plant. I do not grow it anymore, I am sorry to say.
Rob, will you have more photos from Öztal to show on the forum?

Maggi, Franz,
Thanks so much for your expertise. I totally agree with your findings. You can find my collection of Ötztal photos here.

If you disagree with any of my identifications, I would be grateful for your advice.

Thanks, Rob... I never knew about geocaching.....a most interesting new take on orienteering, isn't it? And you get to see the flowers en route!

Rob,
The Primula marginata is P. hirsuta. This Primula is very variable. By the way P. marginata grows only in the Maritime ad Cottian Alps.
Maggi, P. glutinosa is really not easy to grow or flower!

That makes me feel a little better, Franz, thank you!

Thanks for the correction Franz!
