New Zealand AGS and Christchurch AGS held an party on 3rd July 2010 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the club.
Jean Wyllie was sent these photos of the happy occasion by Stuart and Kim helped to confirm some of the names.
At least one Forumist, Lesley Cox, joined that club in 1961... at the tender age of seventeen, showing a solid committment to the organisation ..... as we shall see, there are other long-serving members still taking part.... we'll start with two of the most senior members, cutting the anniversary cake.....Ann de Lambert & Margaret McDonald. Margaret, I believe, is in her nineties and is the NZAGS oldest member.

Now for some pix of the assembled company......
Kaye and David Holyoake
Merv Holland
Peg Tocher, Joan Whillans and Sue Holland
Rex Mark and Judy
Arthur Dixon
-
Cora and Sam Eder
Doug Logan
The two in the centre of the pic are Elaine and Jack Cotter, long associated with the NZAGS seed exchange, I'm told.
"How does this work?" Ann Cartman, a charming Lady in pink.... now identified as Dolina Barker... and Arthur Dixon
Another photo with unknownnow known folks !...I should have asked Ian, who has met them! Jan and Adriamn Bliss ... Adrian is the current President.
It really looks as if everyone was having a grand party ... and why not?
50 years in existence is worthy of a "bit of a do!"
Now, to finish the photos... here's the most important part of the event...... the cake!! If it tasted half as good as it looks it must have been yummy!
The sculpted emblem of NZAGS, decorating the cake, the beautiful Celmisia is perfectly made, isn't it?
Congratulations to CAGS and NZAGS on this milestone and all best wishes for a long and successful future!
-
... And where, pray, is poor Joe Cartman? Probably botanising the cake! :D
Congratulations to CAGS and NZAGS.

Mmmmmm..... when my memory clicks into gear I'll give you the names Maggi. ??? Lovely to see some of the older members such as Margaret and Arthur and Elaine and Jack. I would have loved to go up but wasn't especially well at the time.

The lady in pink? Dolinda Barker I think though with shorter hair than when I last saw her. Still working on the others.

Thanks, Lesley, and others who contacted me... I made corrections to the photos above the other day but forgot to make a note here! :-[
