A few shots of Galanthus flowering in the garden today--unfortunately i have no idea of their names. :-[ :-[ :-[
Cheers Dave.

Hello Dave, thank you for sharing these nice pics with us. We have to wait until September here in Europe. Do you know the name of Galanthus3???
-
Sorry Hagen i haven't a clue --what labels i have are are faded .
Unfortunately i can't remember who gave a piece of that plant to begin with.
If no one else in cyber space knows it's name i'll have an ask around some of my fellow alpine enthusiasts down this way.
Cheers dave.

Thanks Dave for the snowdrop fix. You realise that you have now made me wish the summer away! ;)

Hello John
I have a confession to make ::) --- before membership of this forum i had no interest in 'Snowies' what so ever.
However seeing all the wonderful varieties you folk grow overseas has opened my eyes . :o and i'm keenly swopping and growing as many different types from seed as i can lay my hands on. ;D
Cheers Dave.

Nice one's Dave, Snow drops must be the latest addiction all round.
Heres a stray upward facing flower. May be nice as a clump?
Love an id if possible, any experts out there?
The last one I believe is G. caucasicum?

An untimely reminder of winter for Northern Hemisphere Forumists. As there are thousands of snowdrops in bloom in my garden at the moment , here are a few of about 80 different ones ( species and cultivars),mostly common ones . ,including old 'S. Arnott', still one of my favourites and rizehensis . Both multiply fast and soon form large colonies .
Otto.

Thanks for the snowdrop fix Otto - that should keep me going for a while. 8)
I was chatting to a friend the other day who has been busy chipping bulbs and when he dug up 'Cicely Hall' found she was already putting down roots - so the UK snowdrop season is on it's way. ;D
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one still chipping snowdrops this late in the year. Haven't counted recently, but I must be getting close to my hundredth bag. Fingers are starting to ache!
-
Doug, your upright snowdrop looks like an elwesii. The flower will probably drop out of the spathe soon and look more normal. The last pic is caucasicus or, more correctly these days (thanks to name change), elwesii monostictus.

That must take a bit of storage space, Martin....... got a big airing cupborad, have you?

Oh yes! But it's overflowing.
-
Martin: do you know, I would be interested in a photo - I know it will just be loads of bags (with the odd pair of pants and some towels) - but I would still like to see it. :)

Bit busy just now, John, but I'll see what I can do. Maybe I'll take a pic of them all spread out on the floor when I next check through them for mould.

Here is a photo from my twinscaled snowdrops John.
11 boxes with each 8 bags makes a total of 88 bags this time, i am not coming up to 100 this year!
Maybe next year!
-
Thanks Gerard - 88 bags :o Thats going to be a lot of bulbs in a couple of years time.
That first photo looks like the result of one of those drugs raids they show on the news. ;D
-
Its in my house on the ceiling were the temperature is pretty regular!
NO drugs but just perlite!
You can put it in your nose but its not advisable.
-
Gerard ,
a question to your perlite :
is this a special perlite for agriculture ?
or is this the normal for house building ?
Thank you
Hans
-
Its the very fine perlite we use for agricultural purpose Hans.
We use it also for the Lilliumscales!
regards,
Gerard
