Hi, does anyone know of somewhere that I can buy dwarf organic Cherry and Victoria Plum trees in UK?
-
Walbrook Nurseries near Pershore in Worcestershire are organic ~ I think they offer a mail order service

http://www.walcotnursery.co.uk/ rather than Walbrook though, I think.... ;)
-
Thanks :) No dwarf though. :(

I have to ask " what is an organic fruit tree"?. I know that fruit can be raised organically w/o the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers.
Are the trees grow from seeds or whips w/o chemicals?

You might like to get in touch with

I think they may well be 'organic'

Arnold, what I want is a tree that has had no chemicals used in its life.
Brian - aha! looks like you're right, thank you. ;D
-
So no chemical pesticides, fertilizers. Got it.
Here in the US we have some orgaizations that do certifications for organic nurseries and vegetable growers.
You have to be careful with the use of the term chemical. I use Kelp meal, rock phosphate and gypsum. These are all chemical containing but in a natural occuring form.

I wouldn't consider calling kelp a chemical - seaweed grows naturally in the sea. kelp meal? What is that? another name for powder? I eat kelp daily and raw seaweed is fantastic as a fertiliser in the garden. Gypsum - isn't that another word for selenite? a naturally occurring crystal? which is also mined and used in plaster making.
When I refer to chemicals in the garden I'm referring to toxic weedkillers, fungicides etc which I certainly do not wish anywhere near my food. While I realise it's impossible to totally avoid them as they are sprayed over our heads daily and in the fields near me etc etc, I do want to avoid as much as I can and certainly do not wish to buy something already impregnated with toxins.

As I'm told my old Grandma used to say, when I was very small and ate soil in the garden, "Well, they've all got to have their peck" :P

Kelp meal is the dried ground up sea weed from Norway or Korea. It is used on horse farms as a supplement in the feeding of horses.
My point is that a natural occurring chemical would be organic but not man made chemicals. We have a community garden and any man made chemicals are banned.
