In the case of comparatively uncommon plants/bulbs, the best time is to get 'em at any time they're available. :D

Rachel:
I have Eucomis that grow in summer and one that only grows in winter. I'm not sure if was never turned around due to changing hemispheres. But in general unless your buying from the Southern hemisphere plant when they are for sale.

Eucomis regia is the winter-growing form generally (?) available. Otherwise, as Lesley says, if you see 'em buy 'em! The important thing I have discovered is depth of planting for E.vandermerweii and E.vandermerweii 'Octopussy', which need their nose virtually at ground level otherwise they don't seem to make an appearance for me, but it might be starting to water too soon ::)

I kind of missed the boat for this year for bulbs then so i need to get potted plants if i see them. Was thinking of postage because Trecanna have some nice ones but it works out expensive if they are not sold as bulbs. Otherwise i need to wait till spring then and get bulbs.
Was thinking of Octopussy or Vandermewii, Swazi Pride, Joys Purple, Striatum and a little one i think its called Leia.
