Title: Crinum amoenum
Post by: Casalima on July 17, 2010, 09:18:39 AM
The bulb was labelled "Lilium moorei Album" (sic). Until just a few weeks ago it appeared to be rotting and it was about to be sent to the compost heap. Then it suddenly sent up some leaves with broken tips, followed by a stalk, and a delicate arrangement of long, thin flower buds. And this morning I found I had a Crinum amoenum (a bit distorted in the photo re-size, sorry).

I find that flower form really attractive..... how nice that something so pretty came from a sickly bulb... even if not the lily you expected!

A most beautiful thing with those light and airy stamens an extra enhancement.

What a lovely flower, glad it never went onto your compost heap.
Well worth having. I have seen a lot of Crinum on eBay but wasn't sure wether or not to buy.

Angie :)
