I collect photos of signs, sometimes from very remote locations - a popular passtime. Here is a sample:
A Russian sampling beacon in Antarctica, dated 1960 - 61 (Queen Maud Land, 1990) :
A sign at a farmers gate in the remote Karroo, dated May, 1975 (Loxton, 2006) - Jakhalsdans translates to Jackal (or fox) dance:

the second seems more like an event than a place! ;)
