Give me some money to spend Angie and I will go, I cant resist trying to grow any bulb Or form I dont already have, easy or not. anything from crocus chrysanthus to C sharjonii, Tulipa chrysantha to T regellii, Iris germanica to Iris aitchesonii. I have 400 square feet of sand filled with pots and use space on my sisters allotment and my own for overflow, My spare room has a bench 6 feet by four filled with tender bulbs plus a complement of clivias on the floor, I just dare not go  :-[ ::) :-[

Isn't it a b..... when your horticultural tastes and ambitions are far overtaken by lack of space or money. We all have that problem I think. ;D

Peter I have just started growing bulbs I have some tender bulbs given to me by a generous forum member ;D I am just thinking to myself how long will it take me to get to your stage... I cant wait to get there ;D
Its a shame that we don't have the same opportunity as you have down South, we do have our Dunblane show which always gets us spending a little and of course there is eBay, but nothing would be as good as going to a bulb show.
I think you should go and then you can tell me about all the bulbs that I could have bought if I had been there :'(.

Seems like the bulb sale is just the place for you to go Peter !  ;D ;D

Also, you would find that prices are nothing like what we're used to in the professional trade ! 8)

I've made the hop twice already and it was more than worth it !

14C when we went out late this morning here, certainly didn't feel like an August morning.

It is worth noting, for those travelling from the South particularly, that the "V Festival" is taking place this weekend and can cause congestion round Chelmsford so you should be aware of this.  It's held at Hylands Park Writtle...perhaps you would like to stop off on the way ;)

Now home and pondering where I am going to put all those many many little bulbs (including many coals-to-Newcastle narcissi). It was lovely to meet the other forumists - see you all again in two years time, I hope!

I was surprised when I got home to find a very tall "drumstick" in a pot of what I vaguely thought was some sort of Colchicum (no label - I'd noted the name but hadn't checked my notebook - and I'd only noted the amount of leaves). An Ornithogalum saundersiae just few centimetres shorter than me!

Thanks Luc! That would make sense. And it means that I managed to buy 3 different Stockens - it will be interesting to compare them!
