I'm not very good with meconopsis, they don't grow well in my sandy soil, so I don't know much about them. A friend has a wonderful stand of this meconopsis, which she bought from a garden club stand as M. horridula. I'm pretty sure its not that one, but can anyone tell me what it is? I took pictures of its profile, seed, habit and foliage:

I'd hazard a guess at a M. 'Lingholm' type, Christine....but there'll be an expert along any time soon, I'm sure! :D

Thanks Maggi - I knew it wasn't horridula, but no more. Its semi double as well, though most of the flowers were singles.

Hi Chris, sorry for delay just busy here. I agree with Maggie it is Meconopsis Lingholm and it is usual to get some double flowers with more this year as the colder winter has caused some unusual growth habits in many plants. The plants will set a lot of seed so plenty chances to try a few times to get some going, cheers Ian the Christie kind.

Many thanks Ian, I'll pass this along to my friend. She was most anxious to find out its true identity. Its a cracking good plant too. But she's on claggy clay soil, much richer than mine.
