An announcement to let you know about the Rare Alpine Weekend (May) event that will take place next week at Ploegers in De Bilt, near Utrecht, Holland on Saturday & Sunday 8 / 9 May. Also attending with sales plants will be Ron & Susan McBeath of Lamberton Nursery, Scotland and Rob Potterton of Pottertons Nursery, England. Please contact the nurseries if you want to collect plant orders - we leave next Thursday. In total you will find on offer in excess of 5,000 plant varieties; free coffee offered to all visitors and for information, directions etc; visit Ploegers web site at www.ploegerdebilt.nl

Attached below are some images taken at Ploegers nursery during the event 8/9 May. The weather was cold, overcast and occasionally wet; the photo of Ron & Susan was taken just after Susan got drenched whilst trying to shed rain water from the market stall roof.

Poor Susan. I can hear her gasp as the cold water poured down her neck.
What a marvellous place this looks and what an amazing choice of plants. I wish we had the same available here. I imagine a few personal banks were broken. ;D

Thanks for posting the photos Rob, it really looks like a great nursery for everything but for Alpines, superb - could spend many happy hours there but as lesley says the bank account might suffer :o It is incredible to me that in Valais (Switzerland) nothing like this or specialist nurseries of any sort seem to exist (or at least I haven't found any).
