Title: Turkish book
Post by: arillady on February 26, 2010, 02:38:51 AM
My sister is currently in Turkey and I asked her to check out the book shops for books on their native plants. The only one she found is The Rare Endemics of Turkey by Professor Ekin. Anyone know it? I could not find any reference with a google search. I have asked her to get me a copy as she is heading home in early March.

My sister bought the book for me in Turkey and brought it home.
One of the best things about the book is it states where the type specimen is kept.
So many herbariums around the world - I had no idea.
There is also a section on the persons mentioned in the book with their birthdates and or deaths with a little about them.
I find these sections particularly interesting.
And of course the references page is always of interest even if the publications may not be available.

Each page covers a plant with English and Turkish decriptions and a colour photo.
Plus on each picture there is a small line map with a black square where the plant is to be found and sometimes a photo of the plant if the main photo is closeup.
