Title: Belgian train accident 15th February 2010
Post by: Maggi Young on February 15, 2010, 12:37:39 PM: I have just seen the TV news about the terrible train accident outside Brussels which has killed around 25 commuters in a crash between two trains this morning.
We have so many Belgian Forumists; I do hope that they are not involved themselves, or their families, in this horrible crash?

I know Wim B. is okay... I trust others are, too?

It's a horrible accident all right - hopefully the number of victims will not reach as many as 25 - still not sure at the moment.

I don't think any of our other belgian forumists live or work in the area where it happened.

I know that every sympathy must go to the folks affected by such a tragedy but I cannot help but hope that nonoe are our frinds. :-X

Post by: WimB on February 15, 2010, 04:29:08 PM: Terrible accident indeed, it happened this morning at 8u30 when a lot of people are on their way to work. For the moment they say "officially" 18 people dead and 55 injured. They haven't salvaged all of the compartments of the train yet so that number might still go up.

Post by: Lesley Cox on February 15, 2010, 08:07:33 PM: I too heard a few minutes ago on the radio that 18 were confirmed killed and I too, have been thinking of our Belgian friends. Such horrid things happen and we are helpless to stop them. Such events as these leave lasting scars on the psyche of a whole country. I hope Belgium and all her citizens will cope and recover as soon as possible. We are all thinking of you and would like to help and support.
