Title: trip to Georgia

I have just got round to sorting my slides out from our expedition to Georgia. I would like to thank SRGC for part funding the trip. The places we visited were David Garedza, lagodechi, Kazbegi and bakuriani, The highest point was at Kazbegi. In all we collected over 380 collections which included herbarium, living and seed and the whole trip was a hugh success.

Some beautiful photos, John, of some great plants. It is always good to see them in situ, and so gain planting ideas! Wow to the Viola!  :P

A cracking expedition which 'rewarded' you well! The Jurinella is an attractive plant, outshone ( for me ) only by the D.caucasicum. Thanks for posting.

What an interesting expedition showing your plant finds and their habitats - the Campanula hypopolia literally dripping over the rocks is an amazing sight, thanks John  :)

I hope you collected Primula juliae and Orphanidesia gaultherioides, several clones of each.

Both of these are quite scarce and the rock gardening community could do with fresh introductions.

Too bad that the political situation in Abkhazia probably precluded collecting there.

thanks for all your comments i will try and post some more images later, with regards to Abkhazia it is still possiable to enter but it is not possiable with Georgian botanist.

great stuff! the locales look amazing-love the cliff monastery, and i will take one plant each in agreement with chris and simon: the viola! and jurinella--smashing!
what sort of altitudes do these plants come from?

The Jurinella and Delphinium were about 3100m this was the highest we got on Kazbegi, the rest would be around 2000m
