Title: Bellevalia sp.
Post by: Melvyn Jope on January 11, 2010, 06:05:37 PM
Does anyone recognise which Bellevalia species this is? It is from seed that I collected on Hydra in 1984

Melvyn,
This is a most intresting species, never seen it.
I think it is a Muscari sp. rather than a Bellevalia, that is by the structure of the flowers and the whole inflorescence.
Hope it is of a help..

[Also the leaf seems to be too nerow for a Bellevalia]

I have to agree with Oron, this is a flower very similar to those of muscari grandifolium var populeum
that I raised from seeds collected in Marocco.

It's a lovely little curiosity, Melvyn!
Please consider posting a pic of it in the "Muscari and some relatives" Thread (2010) and tell us a little about how you raised it, etc.
cheers
fermi
