Title: Why we love Helleborus niger...
Post by: Carlo on January 05, 2010, 05:59:17 PM
Here http://bestc.am/dxB6R is a little iPhonery that pretty well illustrates what I love best about Helleborus niger...how can you say anything bad about such a plant?

The same reason so many love snowdrops - doing the business when other plants are out of sight.

Good shot.

Yes Mark, you might say that I shoot my food (usually before I consume it--but there's a great post-prandial shot of those porgys). Food photography is second only to garden photography in my picture-taking passions.

Carlo,

I have had a Helleborus niger in flower here for the last couple of weeks too.  It did it last year as well.  Somewhat confused I think.  ;D  Maybe it is just wishing it was in cooler climes instead of here.  ::)

I love the idea but mine likes to flower at Easter ???  Right now it is thoroughly flat even though it is mostly clear of snow.
