Title: Penstemon euglaucus ERRONEOUS
Post by: PaulM on January 02, 2010, 10:40:10 AM
Hi ! I donated seeds of what I thought was Penstemon euglaucus ( got it from HPS seed exchange 04/05 under that name ), but I have found out today that it is NOT P. euglaucus which is evergreen, but Penstemon serrulatus instead. I think I have donated seeds of this species under the name P. euglaucus 07/08 and 08/09 as well. They should all be changed to P. serrulatus. Here are two pictures of the plant:

Hi Paul,
this is an easy mistake to make as it (P. serrulatus) is one of the Penstemons that turns up quite a lot as other more desirable species :-\ Nevertheless it is still worth growing, but in the border rather than the rock garden.
At least you know for future donations.
cheers
fermi
