Title: unknown Compositae
Post by: mark smyth on April 29, 2007, 10:42:23 PM
I was given a plant of this beauty while in Dublin - 3rd time in three weeks. It's ground hugging and seems to seed around. The flowering stem rises a few cm above the mat of leaves. The flower darkens with age to deep pink

Mark it would help if there were some foliage shown or even the whole plant. There's Chrysanthemum catananche but the white parts of that should be closer to cream I think and then there are two or three Leucanthemum forms or hybrids which have that slightly murky pink ring around the disc. There's a hybrid between Rhodanthemum mawii and something else which is matlike rather than bushy like its parent, and so on.

Looks like what I have as Leucanthemum alpinum x Rhodanthemum mawii (or vv) but not sure of correct name for the former now.
