It is fine, Oleg.... Ian and I know that Miss Lily is more popular than we are....it is something we have learned to live with.... after all, you and Sasha came all the way from Moscow to visit her..... it is always the same!  ::)

She thanks you for your good wishes and sends her regards to you , also!

Not sure about that "nicest" even though I'll concede "most popular" dog on the Forum. ::) I happen to know another very nice dog even though he'll rarely stay still long enough for pictures. Maybe at some stage we'd better have a competition for our respective dogs.

I'm game for a contest, Lesley..... Miss Lily, as well as her social skills, doesn't go on flower beds, or dig........your Teddy may have a problem with that I think  :P ::)......   now, let's just sit back and have all the other forum pet owners tell us why we are delusional and their pet is the best!! Isn't it just the nicest thing about our four legged friends that they give us so much that we ALL think ours are the best?!!  :D

No contest Maggi, My Tara will win against any competition, she does not dig in the garden or walk on the plants, she keeps the C**S away and comes out to the garden to get me in when the dinner is ready, and barks when the phone rings in case I don't hear it. She is also the best looking dog in town.  ;D ;D ;D

Tara's skills are rather nifty, Michael, that is true..... especially about fetching you for your dinner.... Lily takes more after myself and is more likely to EAT your dinner!  ::)

As well as her bright green eyes, she obviously has a wonderfully sleek and glossy coat too, Michael. In the peak of condition. A little plump perhaps? :D The fact that Teddy digs shows he has the spirit of a gardener Maggi and also it gives him character. He is no passive, wimpish individual. (Not that I suggest Miss Lily IS, far from it, and her social skills especially in the field of hospitality, earn her many points).

All this nonsense reminds me that I haven't yet read the new Bulb Log. I'd better do that now then I have to go and buy 6 padlocks.

I meant to ask earlier - some months ago - when Fred is updating sometime would it be possible to provide a link directly from the Forum to the Bulb Log? Perhaps a click at the top of the page beside the "Click Here To Go To Main SRGC Site?"

Lesley, it is just the way the pic was taken, actually there is not an ounce of fat on her, doesn't stay long enough in the one place to grow fat.

Dare I ask what the padlocks are for?

Fred and Ian are planning various improvments to the site in the coming months..... notes of all suggestions are being made by yours truly!!

To help out  until a major link can be made.... I've made a link topic here :
http://www.srgc.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4615.msg124203#msg124203 which will make navigation to the Bulb Logs a bit easier!

On the fence surrounding our Market site we have permanent signage, very expensive, hand painted etc and over these we put small detachable signs for special events such as Christmas extra market etc. The local louts would remove these if not padlocked on so.... Not for either Roger or Teddy, tempted though I sometimes am.

Back to the Bulb Log, the frosty pics are made even better by the additions of the various red fruits among the green and white - quite Christmasy. Presumably it's been a good season for Arisaemas with you Maggi and Ian.

Yes, Lesley, pretty good for most sorts of Arisaema......if only we were better at ID-ing most of them!  :-[

It was not a good year for either A. candidissimum or A. flavum :'(  Hard to get a season where they all like the weather we got!  :(

Maggie,
I.D.ing Ariseamas is easy. You only have to invite Anne Chambers along for tea once a week in the season. Problem solved  ;D

Now that, Susan, is a useful and very pleasant solution!  :) :)

Interesting that you have Galanthus nivalis flowering now. Just about the only snowdrop shoots I have visible in the garden are 'Finchale Abbey', and they have less than 1 cm showing.

Interesting it is flipping miraculous as I have been trying for years to get an early form that will survive in our garden.

Rather a messy background, but Galanthus reginae-olgae, formerly corcyrensis flowering now.  It usually flowers from November till February.

For me Lily is sure to be the nicest. At least she is the forumists' only dog we had a pleasure to get acquainted with personally and being taken aback by her immaculately spotless manners we keep her image in heart

Oleg, since my Teddy is the perfect gentleman, he would step back and let Lily go first anyway, so the Southerners will concede. :D

Oleg, do not worry.... Susan's dog Heather is only a killer of vermin.... which is her job!! Though she does act like she would  kill any other animal if she could!!

Look at that sweet little face....... ::)

I didn't see the dog but it seems to be doing her job well. Fortunately we haven't had such problems with animals like hares and rabits so far digging and eating everything around. Just annoying magpies taking out plant lables. Is it the only way out to have them cought by nice dogs?
