Title: A pale form of Gentiana nivalis?
Post by: Katherine J on November 23, 2009, 02:09:03 PM
Hello Everybody,

Do exist such pale forms of the Gentiana nivalis? I've never seen or read about until now. Or is this another species? We found this in the Dolomites, on the Padon ridge this summer.

I upload also cut and lightened part of the first pic to see the details.

It is a little beauty- I hope you found seed. Could it be Gentiana bavarica? I read somewhere that this can be variable in colour.

No, Simon, it was in full flower, no seeds at all at that moment  :(
I don't think it was Gentiana bavarica, it has not so branched stems like this...
