Title: Skäralid
Post by: Gunilla on October 22, 2009, 10:16:18 PM
Some photos from one of my favourite places, Skäralid on Söderåsen, about 30 km from where I live.  I often go there for walks with my dogs when I have a day off.  I had hoped for a little sunshine today to enhance the autumn colours but had no such luck.  Despite the grey skies and wet weather we had a pleasant walk.

Gunilla, no wonder this is a favourite place for you, it is so lovely!
We can see from some of the shots to the distance that the weather was rather damp and grey, but actually that sort of flat light makes for very beautiful photographs.... thank you!  8)

I am greatly taken by the different conditions of the rocky slopes.... bare rocks, shiny with recent rain; some with light lichen caps; others with full mossy covers.... a whole tale of situation and exposure  8)

Then there's the reflections and play  in the water.... a pleasure to visit with you.

I'm glad you liked it.  It is a very special place and I love the rocks and stones.  It's amazing how trees can grow in the steep slopes.  I have not tilted my camera  :).

Gunilla,
a lovely place indeed. You have already full autuum with all the warm colors to the end of season.

A truly beautiful place as you say Gunilla and the slightly muted autumn tones are quite lovely. The far north has so many exceptional places. I often think of the island of Svarlbard and that I would love to visit there. Different from this gorgeous place of course, but a unique and stunning environment.

Gunilla, what a wonderful place to walk with all the Autumn colours at their best against the dark grey of the rocks.  The views from the top and along the river are stunning and so moody.  Like Maggi, I think the low light makes the colours more jewel like in the canopy and blends one tree with another instead of picking one colour out.  Thanks for showing us your favourite spot  :)

Thank you all, for your kind comments  :)

A real treat to be able to go there often, but where are the dogs Gunilla?

Busy climbing the slopes of course ::)  Only joking,  they stay close to me most of the time but really don't like when I stop to take pictures.
