Title: Plants from Thailand
Post by: Miriam on October 17, 2009, 11:36:59 PM
My daughter has collected some seeds from Ko Phi Phi, Thailand while her vacation there.
The seeds are germinating now in my garden.
I would be glad if anyone could ID the plants shown in the picture (the seeds were collected from this place).

Miriam,

It is some sort of Crinum by the look of it, but I have no idea how many would be from that area.  It looks like the Crinum pedunculatum that is common up north in Australia, so maybe they extend that far up as well into Thailand?  But I think there are a number of Crinum from that way, at the very least including Crinum thaianum.  Maybe someone with local knowledge of what grows in Thailand can help?

Miriam, it looks like C. asiaticum or a member of asiaticum alliance. Maybe when it flowers with you we can ID it!
