Post by: mark smyth on October 01, 2009, 07:18:17 PM

Hmmm, yes, that's the website of John Husbands ="Lampwick"  8)

We have it on the central raised bed (The one down by the Betula jacquemontii) and it is in a fairly sunny spot, though at the northern edge of the bed.  Another is in a sunnier spot at the foot of a Pieris. I think they might rather like the sun.... and more than they get here.......Aberdeen sun is not great sun!

Hi Mark,

E grandiflorum nanum will take more hours of your sun as its very soft compared to ours in Aus. One thing I did notice that the quality of your sunlight is very soft and throughout the northern most parts, no wonder you guys dont sun burn, you would fry here. My E g nanum takes full sun in spring until midday under a deciduous tall maple and gets shade when leafs out for summer.

hope this helps

Stephen I assure you those with pale skin types stupid enough to sit out in our sun do burn and can do so very badly. They very often call their burns a tan.

I have  a good sized plant I can divide and try a piece in full sun.
