Seen, in a field near here: a pair of Fire Lilies (Cyrtanthus contractus). This is a common plant in our area, seen at its best in the spring after the veld has been burnt.

Wow! They must be quite a sight in a group :)

Does it flower only after fire?

"Does it flower only after fire?"
Sporadically, fire seems to promote synchronous flowering. However, they seem to be quite happy flowering in pots at a fairly young age, but they are a little fussy and prone to rotting if the medium is not sufficiently drained.

Here's a group of them flowering with Hypoxis hemerocallidae.
