Title: Clematis ochotensis or?
Post by: PaulM on September 06, 2009, 06:59:20 PM
Hello ! I ordered seeds of Atragene ochotensis ( Clematis ochotensis ) from Alexandra Berkutenko in NE Russia some years ago, and the flowers look very different from the pictures you get if you google Clematis ochotensis on the internet, and I wonder if you think it's a misnomer ? It looks like Clematis alpina I think.
Any other suggestions?
It flowers more profusely in late May- early June, with just an occasional flower in late summer.

Paul, your flower looks very similar to this koreana mix seedling.

I agree that the flower looks like the conventional form of Clematis alpina .  Perhaps a photo to show the leaf shape more clearly would be helpful too?

Paul, I have several Clematis koreana. It seems to me there were four petals larger than on your flower and thicker also. They are in a range of cream and yellow shades, sometimes with purple.
