Title: Habenaria davidii ?? possibly Habenaria wolongensis ?

Hi, I bought five of these off ebay that were sold as Habenaria davidii. They grew two leaves each, as in the pictures but are now dying back. I have looked for pictures online of Hab. davidii but only found upper plant pics. Due to the leaf markings I don't believe they are H.davidii but can anyone shed some light as to what they may be? I know its a long shot but with winter coming I'd like to know the best way to store them.

Is that the end of a ball -point pen to show the scale, Dave?

Yes its the end of a post office counter ball point pen to show scale, that somehow found its way in to my home :o

Hi Dave,

I think this could be a Hemipilia species. They have this kind of tubers and the leaves are like that on the picture.
Hope someone can confirm and add more details if I am right!

Hi and thanks for the suggestions so far. From what I have just read, it is rare for hemipilia to have two leaves and they usually have a single leaf at the base. All of mine had two leaves.

Just seen something on a Orchid forum that shows a pic of hemipilia flabellata which has more than one leaf, so maybe it is after all. If I manage to keep them alive over winter, we will know for sure.

Dave, just had a message from a  friendly orchid growing forumist, who tells me he doesn'tknow what it IS, but it is NOT Habenaria davidii .  He's making further researches  :)

Message just in, from friend of a friend.... says that while it MIGHT be a Hemipilia, there are some inconsistencies. So, undecided.... perhaps all will become clear when it flowers!

Well it flowered but with only one flower. Some others are looking like they will open soon with three flowers. I did not mention it before but they are an Asian species.

Anyone?

I posted this on the Terrestrial Orchid Forum and got the following reply. Just thought I'd update it here as well.
