Title: Unknown creeping 'alpine'
Post by: mark smyth on August 19, 2009, 02:29:39 PM
Does anyone know this lovely little plant? It roots at each node as it goes along. Not in my garden but I would like one for colour at this time of year

It looks like Phyla nodiflora or some other species of Phyla.

Sorry I'm not good at manipulating this site to show links.  It is in the Places to Visit, Jardin aux plantes ...........Limoux.  Can you find it now?

This Wikipedia entry suggests that Phyla is the current name for Lippia:

It can be invasive but it is also somewhat frost tender which should keep it in check. Lost mine altogether in a hard winter.
